Mini-Tennis and touchtennis Nets and Balls
Mini-tennis stage red (5-8 years) utilises one half of a court, using the width of a standard court as the length of the mini-tennis court. With the right equipment, a standard tennis court can be quickly converted into two mini-tennis courts.
Playing mini-tennis with a felt ball that is 75% slower than a standard yellow tennis ball. The LTA also recommends a shorter racket of 43cm – 58cm (17” – 23”) depending on the size and strength of the player.
touchtennis is a modified version of tennis played on a compact court with foam balls and shorter (21 inch) rackets. It is growing in popularity and acceptance as an alternative form of the full size game.
The dimensions of an official touchtennis court are 12m × 5m for singles and 12m × 6m for doubles. The net height at the centre of the net should be 80cm.
